Coastal Towns and Villages

1. Kingscliff

Kingscliff is an easy first stop when travelling south from the Gold Coast. The beachfront village offers cafés, restaurants, walking paths and direct beach access. The Kingscliff Beach Hotel is also a top pick for groups wanting a relaxed meal or drink near the water.

It also pairs well with nearby attractions such as Tropical Fruit World, Fingal Head, Cabarita Beach and Husk Farm Distillery.

2. Fingal Head

Fingal Head is known for its lighthouse, coastal track and basalt columns commonly called the Giant’s Causeway.

It is a good choice for scenic walks, photography and seasonal whale watching. Check the weather and wear suitable footwear.

3. Brunswick Heads

Brunswick Heads offers river walks, swimming, paddleboarding, cafés and boutique shops in a compact village setting. One of the town’s most popular stops is the iconic Brunswick Hotel, where groups can enjoy a meal or drink overlooking the Brunswick River.

It suits groups looking for a slower coastal stop without the crowds of larger tourist centres.

4. Bangalow

Bangalow is known for heritage streets, boutique stores, cafés and regional produce.

It works well for visitors who enjoy shopping, lunch and a relaxed country-town atmosphere. Check market dates before visiting, as these can bring larger crowds.

Groups heading further south can also read about private bus hire from the Gold Coast to Byron Bay.

Rainforest, Waterfalls and Hinterland Scenery

5. Minyon Falls

Minyon Falls drops more than 100 metres into a rainforest valley near Nightcap National Park.

The lookout suits mixed groups, while longer walking tracks require more time, suitable footwear and reasonable fitness.

6. Nightcap National Park

Nightcap National Park offers rainforest walks, waterfalls, birdlife and scenic viewpoints.

Choose a trail that suits the group’s fitness and check current park conditions before leaving.

7. A Northern Rivers Hinterland Drive

Scenic roads connect villages, farmland, rainforest and elevated lookouts across the Tweed and Byron hinterlands.

A simple itinerary might combine Bangalow, one natural attraction and a lunch stop. Fewer stops usually make for a better day.

Food, Farms and Regional Experiences

8. Tropical Fruit World

Tropical Fruit World is a working farm at Duranbah with tropical fruit varieties, tastings and guided orchard tours.

It suits families, schools, seniors and mixed-age groups because the experience is structured and does not require a high level of fitness.

9. Husk Farm Distillery

Husk Farm Distillery near Tumbulgum produces agricultural rum and Ink Gin using ingredients grown on the property.

Adult groups can book tastings, tours or a relaxed food and drink stop. It is a strong option for corporate outings, birthdays and private tours.

10. Northern Rivers Markets

Markets across Bangalow, Byron Bay and surrounding towns feature local produce, food stalls, handmade goods and live entertainment.

Check dates before planning the trip, as schedules vary between locations.

Art and Unique Attractions

11. Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre

The Tweed Regional Gallery combines changing exhibitions, Australian art and wide views across the Tweed Valley.

The Margaret Olley Art Centre includes a recreation of rooms from the artist’s Sydney home studio. It suits art groups, seniors, schools and visitors seeking a quieter activity.

12. Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens

Crystal Castle is set in the Byron Bay hinterland and features landscaped gardens, large crystal displays, sculptures and walking areas.

Allow several hours to see the grounds properly rather than treating it as a short stop.

When organising activities for family gatherings, birthday celebrations or social groups, flexibility is often the key.

The best activities tend to offer something for a range of ages and interests.

Popular options include:

Some excellent options include:

  • Kayaking tours
  • Stand-up paddleboarding
  • Surf school
  • Beach games and social sports
  • Hinterland hiking trails
  • Scenic lookouts
  • Picnic days in local parks
  • Mountain biking experiences

Outdoor activities can be particularly effective for larger groups because they offer plenty of space and flexibility.

Before booking, consider factors such as weather conditions, accessibility requirements and transport arrangements to ensure the day runs smoothly.

Tips for Planning a Successful Group Activity

Book Early

Popular venues and attractions can fill quickly, particularly during school holidays and peak tourism periods.

Confirm Numbers in Advance

Many venues offer group rates or require minimum numbers, so it is worth confirming attendance early.

Consider Accessibility Requirements

Make sure the activity and transport arrangements suit the needs of all participants.

Groups requiring mobility support may benefit from a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Learn more about our wheelchair accessible bus hire options.

Have a Wet Weather Plan

Outdoor activities are popular on the Gold Coast, but weather can change quickly. Having a backup plan can help avoid disappointment.

Think About Transport

One of the most common challenges for large groups is getting everyone to the same location at the same time.

Coordinated group transport helps reduce parking issues, minimises delays and allows everyone to focus on enjoying the day rather than worrying about directions or traffic.

Corporate conferences often combine formal sessions with networking events and offsite activities. Coordinated group transport between venues, accommodation, and activity locations helps keep the program organised across the full event schedule.

The Star Gold Coast offers a conference venue integrated with accommodation, dining, and entertainment in central Broadbeach.

Many conferences held at The Star include evening networking events, gala dinners, and social programs. The venue’s central location allows organisers to combine conference sessions with entertainment options and dining experiences.

For larger events where delegates stay across multiple accommodation towers or nearby hotels, structured transport planning helps ensure smooth movement between venues and scheduled conference sessions.

Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort provides beachfront conference facilities suited to executive meetings and premium corporate events.

Located at Main Beach, the resort offers event spaces overlooking the coastline alongside luxury accommodation and dining options. Conference groups often choose Sheraton Mirage for executive retreats, leadership summits, and incentive programs.

The venue combines indoor meeting facilities with outdoor event spaces that can host networking events and corporate dinners. Its coastal location offers a quieter setting compared to central Broadbeach venues while still remaining accessible from the airport.

Sheraton Grand Mirage sits approximately 35 minutes from Gold Coast Airport, making coordinated airport transfers an important part of conference planning for many organisers.

Key Factors When Choosing a Conference Venue

Selecting the right conference venue involves evaluating several practical considerations that affect both organisers and delegates.

Five important factors include:

What Couples Look For When Choosing a Wedding Venue

Couples look for five main factors when choosing a wedding venue: the setting, ceremony and reception options, photography backdrops, capacity, and weather flexibility.

1. Setting

Gold Coast and Tweed venues offer four distinct settings:

  • coastal (examples include Ancora and Babalou)
  • hinterland (examples include Summergrove and Elysian Hills)
  • garden (examples include Braeside)
  • luxury estates (examples include The Valley Estate).

2. Ceremony and Reception Options

Venues either offer all-in-one locations or separate ceremony and reception spaces. Examples of multi-space venues include Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove and Summergrove Estate.

3 Photography Backdrops

Venues with strong photo opportunities include waterfront locations (Ancora), mountain outlooks (Ardeena), and manicured estates (The Valley Estate).

4. Capacity and Layout

Venue capacity ranges from small gatherings of 30 guests to large weddings of 200 guests or more.

5. Weather Flexibility

Venues with both indoor and outdoor options help couples plan around Gold Coast and Tweed’s humid subtropical climate.

Planning for How Guests Will Move on the Day

Planning For How Guests Will Move On The Day

After choosing a venue and setting the schedule, many couples discover their guests will be travelling between scenic or slightly remote spots across the Gold Coast and Tweed. Here are some key aspects to consider:

Limited parking is a common factor at popular waterfront, garden, and estate-style venues. This can influence how easily guests arrive, especially when the guest list is on the larger side.

Hinterland access can also catch people off guard. Country roads, longer travel distances, and unfamiliar routes often make it harder for guests who aren’t local to the area.

Separate ceremony and reception locations introduce extra movement into the day. When the itinerary includes two different venues, guests need clear direction for getting to each location on time.

Keeping the timings on track becomes easier when guest movement is considered early. Smooth arrivals help support chapel bookings, photography schedules, and reception run sheets.

Late-night travel is another detail couples often think about. Celebrations usually involve drinks, so organising safe transport at the end of the night helps guests return to their accommodation comfortably.

How Currumbin Valley Bus & Coach Supports Wedding Days

Currumbin Valley Bus & Coach supports couples by providing expert wedding transport to allow guests to move smoothly between the key moments of the day. Our team works across Gold Coast wedding venues year-round, so we understand how each location flows and what couples usually need once their run sheet is set.

We help with timing by aligning our schedule with the ceremony, photos, and reception start. This keeps the day running smoothly and reduces delays that often come from unfamiliar roads or multiple venue stops.

Our fleet ranges from smaller vehicles suited to intimate weddings through to larger coaches for bigger guest lists. This gives couples flexibility to match the vehicle size to their numbers, accommodation locations, and overall plans.

We also assist with end-of-night travel by returning guests to central drop-off points or their accommodation. Many couples appreciate having a clear, organised option for guests after a full evening of celebrations.

Throughout the planning process, our team is available to answer questions, suggest practical timings, and help create a schedule that works for the couple, their venue, and their guests.

Ready to Organise Your Guest Travel?

If you’re finalising your venue and starting to plan how your guests will move throughout the day, our team can help. Get in touch to chat through your timings, guest numbers, and any plans you already have in place.

Charter buses are a practical and versatile solution for group transport, making travel easier and more enjoyable for events and trips. Whether you’re planning a wedding or a group tour, a charter bus provides the convenience needed to get everyone to their destination.

But what exactly is a charter bus, and why is it the go-to choice for group travel? We’ll look at everything you need to know about charter buses, from their seating capacity to the benefits they offer, helping you make the most of your next group journey.

What’s a Charter Bus?

A charter bus is a privately hired vehicle (and driver) designed to transport groups of people to specific destinations. Unlike public transport, charter buses operate on customisable schedules and routes, making them ideal for events requiring convenience and flexibility.

Charter buses are equipped with group-friendly amenities such as air conditioning and AV systems, ensuring a pleasant experience for passengers. These buses cater to a wide range of occasions, including weddings, corporate events, school trips, and sightseeing tours.

So, what’s a charter bus preferred for? Its ability to simplify logistics, reduce travel stress, and keep everyone together makes it a top choice over other transport options.

How Many Seats Does a Charter Bus Have?

Charter bus capacities can vary widely, making them suitable for groups of all sizes. How many does a charter bus hold? Typically, capacities range from smaller buses seating around 20 passengers to larger coaches that can accommodate around 61 adults.

An example of Currumbin Valley Bus & Coach’s fleet and their seating capacities:

Small Charter Buses: Ideal for intimate gatherings or team outings, these buses seat between 20-24 passengers.

Medium Charter Buses: Perfect for weddings, corporate events, or school excursions, these buses can accommodate 24-48 passengers.

Large Charter Buses: Designed for bigger groups, our large buses hold 48-61 passengers.

Student Buses: For school groups, we offer 68 and 83-passenger coaches.

Wheelchair-Accessible: Additionally, Currumbin Valley Bus & Coach offer a coach with wheelchair access, ensuring accessibility for all passengers.

Common Uses for Charter Buses

Charter buses are a versatile transport solution for a wide range of group events and occasions. Here are some of the most common uses:

Charter buses offer the convenience of keeping everyone together, the flexibility to meet specific needs, and the reliability to ensure travel is taken care of.

How Much Does a Charter Bus Cost?

Factors That Affect Charter Bus Costs

  1. Group Size and Bus Capacity: The larger the bus, the higher the cost. However, larger buses allow you to accommodate more passengers, making them a cost-effective choice for big groups.
  2. Distance and Duration: Short trips are typically more affordable, while longer distances or multi-day hires will increase the overall cost.
  3. Timing: Peak travel periods such as weekends, holidays, or special events may result in higher pricing.
  4. Additional Features: Amenities like storage, onboard entertainment systems or toilet facilities can add to the total cost but enhance the travel experience.

Splitting Costs for Affordability

One of the greatest advantages of charter buses is the ability to divide costs among passengers. For example, a 50-passenger bus split among each person makes a trip far more affordable.

Tips for Booking a Charter Bus

Determine Group Size and Trip Details

Start by knowing how many people will be travelling and the specifics of your trip. This includes the destination, duration, and any planned stops. Having these details ready will help the bus company recommend the right vehicle and create a tailored itinerary.

Book in Advance

Charter buses can be in high demand, especially during peak seasons, weekends, or holidays. Booking early ensures you’ll secure the vehicle you need and avoid last-minute disappointments.

Communicate Specific Needs

Be clear about any unique requirements your group may have, such as pick-up and drop-off locations, accessibility needs, or extra luggage space. If your group requires onboard amenities like AV systems or specific seating arrangements, mention this upfront so the bus company can accommodate your requests.

Request a Quote

Always request a detailed quote before confirming your booking. This gives you a clear understanding of the costs involved, including any additional fees, and helps you budget effectively.
